F.A.Q.
How often should I repaint the exterior of my home?
Most homes should be repainted every 5-12 years, depending on factors like the quality of the previous paint job, the type of paint used, the local climate, and the level of exposure to sunlight and moisture. Regular inspections can help determine if your home needs a fresh coat sooner.
What types of paint are best for exterior surfaces?
The best type of paint for exteriors is typically high-quality acrylic latex paint, which offers excellent durability, UV resistance, and flexibility. Specific surfaces (like wood, stucco, or brick) may require different formulations, so we can recommend the best paint based on your home’s materials.
How long does an exterior painting project usually take?
The duration of an exterior painting project varies depending on the size and condition of your home, the complexity of the job, and the weather. On average, a standard-sized home can take anywhere from 3 to 7 days to complete.
Will weather conditions affect my exterior painting project?
Yes, weather conditions like rain and extreme temperatures can affect the painting process and the final result. We monitor the weather closely and schedule the project during optimal conditions to ensure a quality finish. However, if the weather turns unexpectedly, we employ staging plastic and protective covers to shield your home’s new paint job from the elements, ensuring its durability and appearance.
Do I need to do any preparation before the painting begins?
While we handle most of the preparation work, such as cleaning and repairing surfaces, you may need to remove items near the exterior walls (like outdoor furniture or decorations) and trim back any vegetation close to the house.
What steps do you take to protect my property during the painting process?
We use drop cloths, tape, and other protective materials to cover windows, doors, landscaping, and other areas. Our team takes great care to minimize any disruption and ensure your property remains clean and safe throughout the project.
Can you paint over existing paint, or does it need to be removed first?
In many cases, we can paint over existing paint if it is in good condition. However, if the old paint is peeling, flaking, or damaged, we may need to remove or sand it down to ensure the new paint adheres properly.
How much does exterior painting cost?
The cost of exterior painting varies based on the size of your home, the type of surfaces, the number of stories, the condition of the existing paint, and other factors. We provide a detailed estimate after an initial inspection to give you an accurate price.
